The public sector unions affiliated to the Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) had not yet made a decision, whether to sign governments wage deal.
The public sector unions have until Monday to sign the proposed wage agreement. General Secretary of the National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union (Nehawu) Fikile Majola says they are ready to sign the wage deal, but it all depends on the response from other Cosatu affiliated unions.
Government signed the deal on September 13 and gave unions 21 days from then to consult their members on its wage offer.
Government has offered a 7.5 wage increase and 800-Rand housing allowance.
Discussions will now continue on Monday.
