Tshwane Metro Police says motorists whose cars were damaged by taxi marshals in Pretoria should open criminal cases with the police.
Mamelodi Amalgamated Taxi Association, better known as Mata marshals forced about a dozen cars off the road and used pliers to remove the tyres’ air valves yesterday morning.
The South African National Taxi Council’s Phillip Taaibosch says the motorists were not the innocent victims.
He says they are illegal taxi operators using their vehicles to transport passengers into the city.
But Tshwane Metro Police’s Ndumiso Jaca, says what the taxi marshals did is spiteful damage to property.
