Today is the official closing day of schools for the winter holidays.

Traffic volumes are expected to pick up on the roads starting this afternoon, as holiday-makers will be heading to their holidays` destinations.

Western Cape Traffic Authorities have urged motorists to be cautious at all times and obey the rules of the road.

Western Cape Traffic Chief Kenny Africa said more than 300 traffic officers are monitoring the road, and they will be taking a no-nonsense approach.
