The Freedom of Expression Institute has raised it concerns at what its labels as growing incidents of blatant censorship within South African tertiary education institutions.

This as several incidents of racism have been reported in the University of KwaZulu Natal.  The FXI says it supports and encourages freedom of expression in all spheres.

FXI Executive Director Phenyo Butale said we believe that opinions of students and their ability to express themselves freely form a critical part in the academic process.

Butale said it also forms a critical point in insuring that you have active citizens of tomorrow who take active participation in the running of their country.
