Sharpevile family massacre victims given smart cards

Home Affairs Minister Naledi Pandor's on Human Rights Day handed over the Smart ID cards to 12 relatives of the 69 victims of the 1960 Sharpeville massacre.

The event was held at George Thabe Stadium in Sharpeville and President Jacob Zuma was present.

Minister Pandor said some of the recipients were on that march and they were very happy to receive the smart cards.

She added that smart cards are the symbol of freedom that we enjoy today as a result of the fights of all those fallen heroes and heroines.
