The Congress of the People is calling for government to review the present road rail transport system in the country.

This follows the death of Minister Collins Chabane and his two bodyguards who died in a car crash on Sunday morning.

COPE Spokesperson Dennis Bloem said government needs to limit trucks on our roads and also increase policing on the roads.

Bloem says Cope would like to see firm proposals on the table limiting trucks on our roads. Transport of goods by rail is the ideal mode because it had worked in the past and very effectively and we believe it can work now as well.

"We are saying, reverting back to rail transport of goods will also save our roads which are under serious pressure because of these heavy vehicles" Bloem added
