The Right 2 Know campaign said the migration from analogue to digital has the potential to transform ownership patterns and determine the communication landscape.

Minister of Communications Faith Muthambi announced last week that the final broadcast digital migration policy would be published in the Government Gazette next week.
However R2K has also reiterated its call for free set-top-boxes for all.

R2K’s Micah Reddy said we have that the government has no quarrels about cutting of people’s basic rights to water and electricity.

"We have no reason to take them for their word when they say they won’t cut off the houses from doing public television. Which we believe is something that the constitution is enshrined and we believe that the public broadcaster is a public good, and every South African has the right to receive an important information." Muthambi added.
