Municipal union Samwu says a facilitator is trying to break the wage negotiation deadlock between them and the Local Government Association.

Yunis Shaik has proposed a six-and-a-half-percent increase.

Samwu initially demanded 11-and-a-half-percent and an improvement in the existing minimum wage of four-thousand-600-Rands.

Salga has offered a four-and-a-half-percent hike. Parties have until the 2nd of next month to find a solution.
