The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) has announced their intention to consider closure of 27 schools in the province.
The department’s spokesperson Bronagh Casey said that the decision is based on various reasons which include dwindling learner numbers and poor quality of teaching and learning.
She said there has been no decision to close the schools as of yet.
Casey said MEC for Education in the Western Cape Donald Grant will only make his final decision once all the prescribed requirements have been met.
