Youth day celebrations in Cape Town

The youth day celebrations are held throughout the Western Cape.

The youth gathered at the Princess vlei are against the building of the proposed mall in the area.

Obrina Armstrong a student at the Cape Peninsula University of technology says different groups are gathered at the area to raise awareness on nature conservation.

She says there area various groups as well as the wildlife foundation and the B-boys, that will be performing later.

Meanwhile African National Congress was addressing the youth in Mitchell`s Plain.

Bush radio newsreporter Lauren Snyders says the youth addressed on drug abuse and teenage pregnancy.

In Gugulethu there are performances in acknowlegement of the heros who died fighting for freedom.

Bush radio`s report Andiswa Mkosi says the youth discussed some of the challenges that the youth face in 2012.
