30-year-old man attacked by a shark near Bredasdorp.

The National Sea Rescue Institute today said a 30-year-old man suffered a shark bite 15 kilometers from Struisbaai on Saturday. 

NSRI Spokesman Craig Lambinon said 30-year-old Kobus Koeberg was taking part in a tag-and-release angling competition on Saturday morning when he got bitten. 

Lambinon added that he had caught a shark while fishing in a tag-and-release angling surfing competition while he was attempting to release the shark, the shark attacked him.

Lambinon further added that he was stabilised on scene although he was in good condition. He was taken to the Bredasdorp Hospital and later transferred to a private hospital in Hermans, where he under went surgery.
