The
Democratic Alliance has called for the National Youth Development Agency to be
scrapped.
DA
Deputy Minister in the Presidency Michael Cardo said the proposal by the Deputy
Minister of Performance and Monitoring in the Presidency Buti Manamela that the
NYDA Act should be reviewed will open the door for further irregular and
wasteful expenditure.
Cardo said the
government should rather cut its loses and scrap the agency all together. The agency has done
nothing for youth development over the last five years since its
formation the tiny developed is so serving political connected elite with
fat salaries overseas travels and drunkards.
"Meanwhile
youth unemployment is at all high in South Africa when the funds are being
squandered on the national youth development agency and its leadership it would
be better spent on initiatives designed to improve the lives of South Africa’s
youth, such as the Youth Wage Subsidy.” Cardoa added
