The Food and Allied Workers Union said it supports
concerns raised by the South African Citrus Industry regarding the European
Union and its member-states trade protectionist practices.
FAWU General Secretary Katishi Masemola said the South
African government needs to confront the EU on its unfair trade.
“We believe that the European Union is using the black
port issue to try and deny access to what is otherwise competitive Citrus
product coming from South African to European Union
We therefore call on our government to work tireless
hard in ensuring that this export form South Africa to European Union are not
denied that services if any journey they continue to enjoy access in European
Union.” Masemola added.
