18 injured in M1 collision

Eighteen people have injured after a collision on the M1 near the Milkyway Road in KwaZulu-Natal.

“When ER24 paramedics arrived on scene, they found provincial services assisting some of the patients on the scene.

"Two taxis and three bakkies lay wrecked in the middle of the road. one of the taxis had caught alight and the blaze being battled by fire services.” ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said.

Paramedics discovered that five of the eighteen were critically injured. The driver is among those critically injured. He has sustained severe burn wounds all over his body.

Bystanders allegedly pulled the injured from the vehicles and extinguished the fire.


All victims were taken to various hospitals.
