Portfolio committee on Public
Service and administration welcomes the appointment of Advocate Ngoake
Ramathlodi as the New Minister of Public Service and Administration.
The Committee views his
appointment as ideal in the push to attain the professional public service as
envisioned by the National Development plan.
Chairperson for the Committee,
Peace Mabe believes Ramathlodi will do a great job but that he will also face
some challenges.
Mabe explained that some of the priorities the new Minister will have to grapple with, include the fight against corruption within the public service.
The Committee believes that
corruption represents the single most threat to quality service provision in
the country and requires multiple protocols to deal with it effectively.
“Associated to this, the
streamlining of processes in order to speedily conclude disciplinary processes
against officials suspected of corruption must be expedited.” Mabe concluded
