MEC submits visa regulations impact review

MEC of Economic Opportunities Alan Winde submitted to the National Government a detailed review of the impact of visa regulations on Wednesday.

Winde said that the report was based on how the visa regulations had negatively affected the economy.

“You can see a drastic downturn in the number of people eventually ending up at the convention phase You can see it at health tourism, people who are coming medical health tourism they are also finding it more difficult to get here.” Winde added.

Furthermore, Winde requested that the report be taken into account by the committee responsible for assessing the new rules.

Part of the analysis was conducted by the Western Cape Government’s Red Tape Reduction Unit.


The report is now with the deputy president.
