SACP calls on Premier Mahumapelo to refrain from defending the Gupta family

The South African Communist Party in the North West has called on ANC Provincial Chairperson and Premier, Supra Mahumapelo, to refrain from defending the Gupta family.

This comes after Mahumapelo praised the Gupta family during his State of the Province Address. He said the family was contributing to the growth of the county's economy and the province by creating jobs through their businesses.

The call by the Communist Party follows the recent claims of Gupta influence on cabinet appointments.

SACP Provincial Secretary Madoda Sambatha says, "The Guptas defence must be the responsibility of the Gupta family. It has nothing to do with the African National Congress”.
