South Africa’s first electric car, the Joule, is set to take the country’s roads by storm when production begins in the Eastern Cape in 2012.
The battery-operated six-seater, designed by Optimal Energy, is set to cost the consumer just under three-hundred-thousand-Rands.
The car is made of eco-friendly materials and will also feature a roof-mounted solar panel as an option.
Optimal Energy spokesperson, Jaco van Loggerenberg says that charging the Joule will not place an extra strain on South Africa’s already-fragile national electricity grid
