Social
services has been divided into six categories with 20 sub-categories, they are
as follows: Education at R207,3
billion (6%)- Basic education R152,1
billion (4,6%), tertiary education R31,1 billion (13,9%), vocational and continuing education R14,4 billion (5,6%) and education administration R9,6
billion (5,8%).
Social protection at R157,9 billion (9,1%)- old age grant R39,3 billion (5,4%), child support grant R38,2 billion
(12.3%), social benefits fund R29,4
billion (16,5%), disability grant
R19,2 billion (7,4%), policy oversight
and grant and benefits administration R11,3 billion (1,7%), provincial welfare services R12,3
billion (6%) and other grants R8,2
billion (8,8%).
Health at R121,9 billion (7,1%)- district health services R42,3 billion
(4,9%), provincial hospital services
R25,9 billion (3,5%), other health
services R18,6 billion (19,1%), central
hospital services R17,6 billion (3,6%), health infrastructure R8,1 billion (4,9%) and HIV/Aids TB R9,5 billion (15,5%).
Housing and community amenities at R120,1 billion (11,7%)- local government and community development
R59,1 billion (14,5%), water supply
R32,1 billion (13,7%) and housing
development R28,8 billion (4,4%).
Recreation and culture at R8, 6 billion (-5, 2%).
Economic
affairs has been divided into eight categories, they are as follows: Transport R74,9 billion (3,5%), agriculture, forestry and fisheries; rural
development and land reform R22 billion (10,6%), general economic and commercial affairs; mining, manufacturing and
construction; and other industries R21,4 billion (20%), environmental protection R9,5 billion
(8,8%), employment programmes R6,2
billion (39,1%), fuel and energy
R6,2 billion (-6,6%), labour affairs
R2,2 billion (5,9%) and communication
R2,5 billion (-0,4%).
General
public services has been divided into five categories and they are as follows: state debt cost R89,4 billion (16,6%), executive and legislative and finance
affairs R29 billion (3,3%), other
general public servicesR11,6 billion (-5,3%), international relations and cooperation R6,2 billion (3,1%) and home affairs R5,3 billion (-9,5%).
Public
order safety has three categories and they are as follows: police services R65 billion (6, 8%), prisons R17, 9 billion (9, 3%) and law courts R15, 1 billion (13, 3%).
This is the
government’s total expenditure.
