The South African National Roads Agency Limited reiterated on Monday that tolls on the main Gauteng highways will go up annually by the rate of inflation.

There were claims that emerged that the toll charges could rise drastically as debts faced by the company increased.

The Congress of South African Trade Unions and other organisations responded with a threat of strike action against the toll roads.

Sanral Chief Executive Officer Nazeer Ali said that he was unhappy the strike will go ahead.
