Cape Town police said Jacob Humphreys is still in police custody and will probably be taken to jail this afternoon.

Earlier today, he was sentenced to 12 years behind bars after he was found guilty on 10 counts of murder.

Another eight years were added for four counts of attempted murder.

Judge Robert Henney said that Humphreys refused to accept responsibility for his actions and lacked remorse.

The judge further said Humphreys overtook several vehicles in the face of oncoming traffic.

Henney also said  Humpreys went over a railway crossing while the booms were lowered.
