The ANC in the Western Cape is upset with the premier of the Western Cape Helen Zille, a few farmers and chosen partners on the rights of animals.
A meeting was held yesterday at the provincial building in Cape Town.
According to the ANC, the meeting was attended by DA-led provincial executives and provincial government officials.
The ANC’s Max Ozinsky said the meeting was called after an outcry against issuing hundreds of permits to farmers giving blanket permission to kill predatory animals ahead of the last elections in exchange for the farmers backing and votes.
Ozinsky added that the ANC will call on the standing committee in the legislature to conduct proper public hearings on the issue to get to the bottom of the controversy and get all the facts.
