John Michels the community leader in Grabouw in the Westerrn Cape has threatened another protest if mobile classrooms are set up on a doubtful piece of land.

The Elgin Grabouw Civic Organisation’s community leader says no environmental impact assessment clearance has been produced on the piece of land identified by the Western Cape Education Department.

Education MEC in the Province Donald Grant recently announced the extra classrooms following violent protests over education that led to racial clashes in the area.

Michels says that there are wetlands on the council owned property and has suggested that the classrooms be moved to a spots field near two coloured schools.
