Mali’s military leaders have agreed to stand down after taking control of the country through a military coup de tat.
The Economic Community of West African States announced that they will be lifting sanctions and providing official pardon to those involved in last month’s overthrow.
The deal has reinstated civilian rule in Mali and an interim leader is expected to be announced to facilitate democratic elections.
This comes after Touareg rebels claimed independence in the north of the country yesterday.
