Eastern Cape police confirmed that a man was arrested yesterday in Mthatha for raping a nine-year-old girl.
The police’s captain Jackson Manatha said the girl’s brother’s friend came to visit him when he saw the girl in a room separate from the family’s home.
Manatha said the 27-year-old man allegedly raped the girl.
He added that it is not known where the brother of the girl was when she was raped.
The man will appear in the Centane Magistrates Court tomorrow.
