This morning police arrested three men for possession of abalone.
The suspects were arrested after police were informed about their illegal activities.
The estimated street value of the abalone is said to be R500 000.
The police found a total of 2011 shucked abalone in black bags under the seat of a mini bus.
The three suspects are aged 32, 33 and 34 and all reside in the Brown’s Farm area of Nyanga and Lower Crossroads.
The police’s FC Van Wyk said the suspects will appear on charges of possession of abalone in the Athlone and Wynberg Magistrates Court this Thursday.
