According to public protector Thuli Mandonsela, corruption in South Africa is at a tipping point.

Mandonsela said that if corruption is not dealt with it has a chance to derail democracy and distort the economy.

Speaking at the international Winelands Conference in Stellenbosch yesterday, she said SA needs leaders who are selfless and this way corruption will end as well as maladministration.

Mandonsela said accountability is very important if the country is to have good governance and no-one should be protected from it.
