The Western Cape MEC for Transport and Public Works has urged the Chamber of Commerce and Cosatu to stay away from Metrorail.

Robin Carlisle has called for Metrorail to explain why they are negotiating fare increases with unelected, non-government bodies.

Carlisle has asked why Metrorail, Cosatu and the Chamber of Commerce are negotiating the future of Cape Town commuters behind closed doors.

Carlilse further said that it is extremely worrying to contemplate what business model and financial plan Metrorail are working to that allows them to come up with a huge price hike.
