Western Cape traffic officials confirmed that the Easter weekend death toll has increased since last year.
Since last Friday 13 people have died on the provinces roads compared to last year where only seven people died.
The national death toll has possibly declined.
Just over 100 people have died on the country’s roads nationally.
Final figures are yet to be released.
Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeffrey Wicks said that traffic officials and emergency services were out in full force this weekend.
