A youth activist, Lukhona Mnguni has taken Democratic Alliance leader Helen Zille to the South African Human Rights Commission.

This comes after a comment she made about the Eastern Cape learners on a social network.

Lukhona Mnguni has asked the commission to advise Zille to publicly apologise for referring to Eastern Cape pupils as refugees.

Zille made the comment last month in response to violent protests in Grabouw.

Mnguni said that Zille’s statement could stigmatise people from the Eastern Cape as foreigners in the Western Cape.
