The DA has received an answer to explain that R1, 8 billion is still outstanding in rental from the 12 fishing harbours in the Western Cape.
The DA’s shadow deputy minister of agriculture, forestry and fisheries Pieter van Dalen said this is a further indication that the national department of public works does not know how to collect rent.
He added that they have been stressing for a while now that the 12 harbours have been very badly managed.
Van Dalen said the harbours are falling apart.
He said this is one of the reasons why the people are refusing to pay their rent.
