A suspected criminal has been rushed to a Johannesburg hospital in a critical condition after he was attacked and set alight by Diepsloot community members.
Reports say police had arrested the man, but a mob overpowered the officers and attempted to kill him.
Johannesburg Emergency Services were called to the scene but it was not safe for them to enter the area, despite five police vehicles accompanying the paramedics.
Police eventually managed to bring the patient out. The man had apparently been accused of theft.
