On Thursday Western Cape MEC of Finance, Economic Development and Tourism Alan Winde delivered the provincial budget for 2013-2014.

One of the biggest challenges facing the provincial government remains housing.

The total budget allocation to the department of Human Settlements amounts to R2.149 billion for the creation of sustainable human settlements.

Winde said they need to ensure that delivery is achieved in human settlements and also keep balance between job creation and building houses for the people.

He added that there are changes in policies for the housing which means is creating more service sights as opposed to building homes.
