Metrorail has offered a R50 000 reward for anyone with information that will lead to the arrests of people who torch trains.

Metrorail CEO Mosenngwa Mofi said the company had lost more than R70 million since a strike it attributed to the National Transport Movement.

Metrorail National spokesperson Lawrence Venkile said following the incidents of the torching of their trains, Metrorail has made a firm commitment and that is to leave no stone unturned in ensuring that these criminals are brought to book.

Venkile adds that this is in line with the commitment made by the PRASA rail CEO Mr Mosenngwa Mofi who is ensuring that their results ensure that the criminals who torch theses trains are locked away has never been greater.

Furthermore Venkile also adds that Metrorail is now calling on all the commuters and members of the public to come forward to join them in eradicating criminal conduct that undermines their efforts to improve operational efficiency.
