Rural Women and Youth Movement calls for an end to violence against women and girls

As today marks International Women’s Day, Ubuntu Rural Women and Youth Movement have called for an end to violence against women and girls.

This follows several brutal attacks on women and girls in the country in the past two months.

The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is “The Gender Agenda: Gaining Momentum.

Founder of Ubuntu Rural Women and Youth Movement Wendy Pekeur said International Women’s Day is a very symbolic day for women across the world.

She added that if we look at women of the struggle before and what women have been through in terms of ensuring liberation. It’s a long war.

Pekeur further added that the time for woman to lead is here, time to lead efforts for a change in their own life and build on the struggles what had been done in the past already.
