The African National Congress in the Western Cape said it is outraged at the violence and heinous crimes involving school going youth in the province.

ANC Youth League Provincial Task Team Convenor Muhammad Khalid Sayed said curbing violence involving learners needs a collective effort from both government and the community.

“As a former MEC for education Premier Helen Zille should take full responsibility for the challenges facing our learners in the province. She and MEC Grant must not be deprived our vulnerable learners from Education for closing some schools in poor areas like Mananeberg, but should increase support to ensure that they continue working on their future".

“We are also saying MEC Plato instead of entertaining gangsters and making celebrities of them he must install a far better safety mechanism at our schools in he must agreed to engage to those views who have come to him and  have said than there are focus on finding solutions to this surge,” Sayed said.
