The African Christian Democratic Party in the Western Cape said it agrees with the renaming of street names in Gugulethu by the provincial government.

ACDP Provincial Leader Ferlon Christians said it does critics the Democratic Alliance for not having prioritized the renaming since 2006.

“We are happy that they have decided to rename the street names in Gugulethu, we know that NY stands for Native Yard, and I’m very disappointed that the DA has delayed to replace these names,” Christians added.

"One of the roads will be named after seven young males who were shot by police in 1986 in Gugulethu, this will bring memories back of what we’ve done towards our democracy,” Christians said.
