DA calls on Education Minister to address maths crisis

The Democratic Alliance has called on Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga to urgently address the maths crisis in the country.

DA MP of Basic Education Annette Lovemore said the crisis of mathematics in South Africa is in crisis resulting in poor learner performance in the subject.

Lovermore said this fact was reiterated in a report released by the Centre for Development and Enterprise on Thursday which showed how the country is failing to teach maths successfully.

Lovemore added that South African learners are capable of learning maths, but they have to be taught properly.
