ER24 paramedics said a man in his 40’s is in a critical condition this is after a large container from a truck fell onto his bakkie on the N1 outbound on Tuesday.
It is believed that a truck carrying a large container had passed over a fly over bridge where the container was too high to pass.  It then caught onto the bridge and was then pushed off onto the small vehicle.

ER24 Spokesperson Christo Venter said the man was trapped in the wreckage and firefighters had to use the jaws of life pull him out.
Venter added that the man was placed on advance life support on the scene before being transported to hospital.

Meanwhile Western Cape Transport MEC Robin Carlisle has ordered an investigation into the accident as the driver should have had an escort vehicle travelling with him.
