Following reports of drug abuse and drugs
being sold on Long Street in the CBD , Western Cape MEC
of Community Safety, Dan Plato, said he will be conducting his own investigation
into drugs in Long Street.
In August the Provincial Government has
budgeted R87 million to fight drugs in the province.
Ministerial Spokesperson Greg Wagner said
that MEC, Dan Plato would like to personally guarantee for himself, and will soon
be walking down the street, in the CBD to find out what
level of drug abuse is taking place.
Wagner
added that the MEC will then relay this information to the authorities
including the police and the metro police so that they can deal with the
matter.
