The Police Portfolio Committee is demanding details on how the South African Police Service intends to optimise its Cluster Management structure without having a bloated management structure and incurring unnecessary costs.

The police told the committee that beefing up the cluster would assist the SAPS in achieving its mandate.

Police Portfolio Committee Chairperson Annelize van Wyk said the concerns are around the fact that it’s seems like its obligation of the management structures that should happen at police station level and provincial level.

She added that the committee has requested SAPS that when they finalised that to come back to the committee before they implement it.
