Provincial Transport Department to intervene in the taxi violence in Delft

The Department of Transport and Public Works in the Western Cape has decided to intervene in the ongoing taxi violence in Delft.

The violence has resulted in a number of deaths since it started over a month.

Transport MEC Robin Carlisle said this can not go on as it infringes on people.

MEC`s Spokesperson Siphesihle Dube said the problem is the taxi organizations are fighting over taxi routes and the police have intervened impounded many taxis.

Dube added that the Ministry intends to beef up security to ensure the safety of commuters
