A fire occurred at the Doornbach Informal Settlement, off Potsdam Road
Disater Risk Management Centre Spokesperson Wilfred Solomons-Johannes
said five emergency vehicles were dispatched to the scene from the Milnerton
and Melkbosstrand fire stations.
Solomons-Johannes said the fire destroyed two shacks resulting in the
displacement of two adults and four children. No persons sustained any
injuries.
The cause of the fire is undetermined and is pending
investigation.
He added that the City’s disaster response teams assisted the victims
with food parcels, clothing, blankets, baby packs and building material.
