Western Cape Disaster Management, under the Department of Local Government, handed over R15 000 to Eden District Municipality to launch braille material.

This initiative supports the United Nations Annual International Disaster Risk Reduction Day and commemorates the 2013 theme, Living with Disability and Disasters.

Media Liaison at the Western Cape Disaster Management Lisa Geswindt said these funds will be used to print and distribute Braille material to the various NGO’s and also falls in line with Eden District Disability plan.

“This is to maximize the impact of the campaign and provide further training initiative to the vigilant cared and will be conducted by the municipality in order for this to be sustainable,” Geswindt added.
