Three Home Affairs offices to be unveiled for 1st phase of Smart ID Cards

Minister of Home Affairs Naledi Pandor is today expected to unveil three Home Affairs offices in Pretoria and Johannesburg allocated for the first phase of the Smart ID Card application for the public.

Meanwhile also today the Director General Mkuseli Apleni will unveil the Cape Town’s Barrack Street offices where members of the Portfolio committee on Home Affairs are expected to apply for the smart ID cards. 

Departmental Spokesperson Ronnie Mamoepa said the department has been engaged in a process of revamping infrastructure in offices across the country to enable us to roll the smart ID cards to the public. 

“The opening of the three offices in Gauteng and the Western Cape are part of the national plan by minister Pandor and the department of Home Affairs to unveil more offices across the country later this year” Mamoepa added.
