The Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration has introduced protesting rules on striking municipal workers.
CCMA director Nerine Kahn, told the media rules about exactly how many metres away from municipal offices protests could take place would be enforced.
Conduct must be peaceful, arranged and non-disruptive. Strikers are not allowed to interfere with members of the public, contractors or employees who choose to work.
The rules also stipulate that any violence or unacceptable actions will be considered disciplinary offences and could lead to dismissal.
