Cities across the country are preparing for what promises to be a crippling strike by municipal workers.
The strike is due to start on Monday. The city councils of Pretoria, Johannesburg and Cape Town have indicated that essential services such as emergency services will not be affected.
Waste management could be affected in Cape Town, but contingency plans are in place to ease the problem.
“We respect the staff’s freedom to protest, but service delivery to our residents remains our primary responsibility,” said Kylie Hatton, City spokesperson.
