Somali owned shop in Delft robbed

A Somalian owned shop has been robbed after three suspects armed with a hand gun entered the store and demanded money.

It is reported that one suspect went behind the counter and handed the money to the other suspects.

“The suspect behind the counter was still busy when his firearm went off, he fatally shot himself. The other suspects fled from the scene”.

“A gun was found next to the suspect as well as 1X 9mm spent magazine and 1 X bullet was found on the scene” said police spokesperson Captain Frederic van Wyk.

An unknown amount of money and airtime was taken from the store.

Police are urging anyone who may have information that can help the police during the investigation can contact the investigating officer, Sgt Marthinus on 082 411 3082.
