Residents of KTC area in Nyanga accuse their Ward Councillor of ignoring their needs.
Ward Councillor of ward 39 Gladstone Ntamo of the ANC is accused of refusing to attend on community needs and uses vulgar language against the residents.
“The Councillor applied for the housing subsidy on our behalf without our knowledge and now he is building tiny houses that we cannot live in and when we confronted him he insulted us,” said community leader Nolubelo Masimini.
Masimini went on saying the rain is heavy and the people are panicking. We called disaster management last time but the Councillor turned them away and told them there are no floods here.
Councillor Ntamo said it was not him who appointed the contactor.
“It was appointed by the government, maybe provincial or the City of Cape Town,” doubted Councillor Ntamo.
He said he does not want to comment much on the matter, because the residents do not know what they want.
Today about 400 angry residents went to the mayor’s office, to hand over their memorandum.
