Tygerberg Hospital has decided to boost the security in and around the hospital. The security beef up comes after a two week old baby boy was stolen from the hospital.
The boy was snatched from the hospital ward J2 lying in his crib, while the mother of the boy lay in a coma in the same hospital.
“The current security at Tygerberg is adequate which consists of CCTV cameras electric access control doors,” said Tygerberg Hospital spokesperson.
“The hospital will also look into employing more security guards and visitors will be screened for visiting, nurses will make rounds during visiting hours.
“None visiting hours are strictly controlled, security will cover all the exist from hospital to make the hospital and everyone inside the hospital safe,” said spokesperson for health in the Western Cape Mark van der Heever. .
